Amy is an associate attorney at the Jean Brown Law and a native of San Antonio, Texas, where she grew up in Terrell Hills and attended Incarnate Word High School. After high school, she obtained her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at San Antonio. During undergrad, she interned at the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office and then attended St. Mary’s University School of Law to obtain her Juris Doctorate. During Law School, she worked at Cox and Smith in San Antonio. She began her legal career as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney at the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office prosecuting cases from misdemeanors to felonies. When she left the DA’s office, she was a Felony Family Violence Prosecutor. She left the DA’s office in 2010 to enter private practice to defend people accused of crimes and litigate complex Family Law cases. As a defense attorney, she has successfully defended a wide array of cases with several acquittals on cases ranging from driving while intoxicated, assault family violence, drug possession, aggravated robbery and murder. As a family law attorney, she has litigated a myriad of complex issues including all aspects of high conflict child custody cases and divorces. Amy’s knowledge and expertise in both criminal and family law is key when these two worlds collide and a client is faced with criminal charges, as well as facing divorce or child custody issues. Amy’s approach is client focused, with the ultimate goal to achieve a client’s perfect world while navigating them through the stress of the court system.
